A new shelf design for orihon by reusing the metal shelves that we borrowed from Oris House of Architecture, Zagreb and fixing them on the wooden sticks that lean against the wall... voilà.

The Korčula Cultural Center will host Davisi Boontharm's latest solo exhibition — a collection of paintings and drawings deeply rooted in her love for and explorations of Dalmatian stunning coastline and its islands.
In various formats of paintings and intimate orihon sketchbooks, the artist weaves the past and present together, letting her watercolor sketches and palimpsest textures celebrate the richness of history and the breathtaking beauty surrounding us.

Centar za kulturu Korčula ugostit će najnoviju samostalnu izložbu Davisi Boontharm – zbirku slika i crteža duboko ukorijenjenih u njezinu ljubav i istraživanja ove zapanjujuće obale i njezinih otoka. Kroz različite formate slika i intimne, krhke orihon crtaće blokove, umjetnica isprepliće prošlost i sadašnjost, dopuštajući akvarel skicama i palimpsest teksturama da slave bogatstvo povijesti i ljepotu koja nas okružuje.

My heart is full. Last night’s opening of "Beyond the Fold" at PLAY art house was more than just an exhibition—it was a homecoming.

Having my parents present at the preview to witness this work was meaningful to me.

Despite the heat, we had an amazing crowd. To everyone who walked through those doors—from my cousins and relatives, oldest friends from elementary school, and high school to my university crew, plus mes camarades de Paris, former colleagues + students—thank you for being part of my journey.

I am deeply honored that Khun Nithi Sthapitanonda, National Artist, joined us as the guest of honour. Your presence added such a special layer to the evening.

Poj @pojperous (Supoj Lokunsombat): For connecting me with Khun Aey and Khun Aui at PLAY art house @playarthouse. Lovely couple who manage such an amazing space and give me such tremendous support.

This exhibition represents a significant milestone in my journey, featuring the biggest collection of works to date. At the center of the exhibition are my orihon sketchbooks— aconcertina books that allow stories, lines and paints to flow without boundaries.

นิทรรศการนี้เป็นก้าวสำคัญของเราในเส้นทางสายนี้ โดยนำเสนอผลงานชุดที่ใหญ่ที่สุดเท่าที่เคยมีมา หัวใจสำคัญของนิทรรศการคือสมุดพับสำหรับเขียนรูป (orihon sketchbooks) ซึ่งเป็นตัวถ่ายทอดเรื่องราว เส้นสาย และสีสันให้ไหลลื่นไปได้อย่างไร้ขอบเขต

ความน่าสนใจของงาน ไม่ใช่แค่สมุดเล่มน้อยๆและรอยพับ นับพันๆของมัน แต่เป็นเนึ้อหาที่ว่าด้วยเรื่องชีวิต การเดินทาง การสังเกตและจดจำ รวมทั้งความประทับใจในสถานที่ ผู้คน และสิ่งละอันพันละน้อยรอบตัว

Places & Traces exhibition is over; thank you for all the support and encouragement. I have received fruitful comments and had lively discussions at the gallery. It means a lot.

Here is one of the new works I would like to introduce.

The melody of train ride: views from Tokyu Toyoko Line, 2026

Watercolour on a handmade orihon (concertina sketchbook) made from music sheets.

For a long time, I’ve wanted to portray the experience of a train ride through Tokyo’s suburbs.

Inside, it’s a vacuum of silence—no voices, just the hum of the motor. I find myself escaping into the "ugly and ordinary" views of Tokyo.

I’ve started seeing the city through music sheets. The staves helped me spread the roofscape, and structure the building facade; sometimes they are the tangle of electrical wires. The staccato notes became staircases, and other times they could accidentally become window frames.

The tracklist for this journey felt like destiny. "Partire"—to depart. Leaving one station, arriving at another, suspended in the music of the commute.

The work has been featured in the exhibition "PLACES & TRACES" Palimpsest books at Design Festa Harajuku 9-15 January 2026.

The opening of Place & Traces: Palimpsest Book went beautifully. The intimacy of the space at Design Festa Gallery allows for a quiet, close-up look at the palimpsest books—exactly how I hoped it would be experienced.

To the friends and students (past and present!) who joined me: thank you for being part of this story. Your support means a lot.

This weekend Design Festa received many visitors, I’ve spent these days having inspiring conversations with so many new visitors.

I also caught up with Rachel @veggie_crochet from the DFG staff for a quick interview and reportage. It’ll be online soon—stay tuned for the link!
